Research has shown that each portion of the gating system must be designed properly if the maximum benefits are to be obtained. It is imperative to realize that the ideal gating system should achieve the following:
1) Decrease the velocity of the stream and thereby reduce the opportunity for dross formation;
2) Minimize turbulence in the mold cavity
3) Avoid mold and core erosion
4) Deliver molten metal to the mold cavity in a manner that will establish the thermal gradients necessary to produce sound castings
5) Increase the casting yield

Orient gating tile systems offers a wide variety of gating components to address these issues to ensure a quality sand casting. The use of AP&P ceramic gating components result in consistently better castings, elimination of slag inclusions, reduction of rejects, and lower total cost of production. AP&P gating components will neither erode nor spall in service at temperatures to 3250 ˚F.
